[The video turns on to Armin hurrying to sit down again. It seems his gear is propped up on top of something, giving it a perfect view of a cosy and neat little campsite. There is a tent, a fire. A content Piloswine is snoozing away, and Armin is sitting propped up against him, using the mountain of fur as a backrest. He's sitting with his legs crossed, a few notebooks and pens nearby, a steaming mug of tea at the ready and his laptop on his lap.
And his eyes are on fire.
Not literally, of course. That would be rather unhealthy. Rather, his eyes are shining bright with a mixture of pure excitement, curiosity and intense happiness. It is the sort of look that makes it pretty hard not to share in his excitement.]I think it is safe to assume that by now, you've all heard of the strange new pokemon that have been sighted. There is three, as far as I know, though if you've seen other ones, please let me know. The ones I am aware of are a blue chameleon-like pokemon with a fin on top of its head and a curled up tail; a green monkey-like pokemon with brown ears and a tail; and finally a white rabbit-like pokemon with some red markings.
For those of you that haven't experienced something like this before - it seems to happen here from time to time. I recall it happening once before, about two years back, but I've talked to some other people who confirmed that it happened at least one other time before that too. Essentially what happens is that new species of pokemon suddenly start appearing. It might just be one or two, but it could also be dozens! Sometimes the Pokedex won't register them at all, but at other times, the dex will suddenly be updated with a ton of new pokemon that weren't there before.
Nobody really seems to know why and how it happens, though I think it is fair to say that the chance of this being a natural occurrence is fairly slim. The plane crash that happened earlier this month seems to have something to do with the appearance of these new pokemon, though that is not something that has happened before. I'm afraid I wasn't able to visit the site of the crash personally, but if anyone has and has any more information, I'd gladly hear it.
In fact, that's why I am making this broadcast.
With so many unanswered questions about both these new pokemon and the crash, I thought it would be good to try and collect as much information as we can. Right now, we cannot depend on the Pokedex or books to help us figure out the mysteries of these new Pokemon. But if everybody contributes what they know, even if it is just a confirmed sighting, I think we might be able to gather enough information to start answering some things. And sharing our experiences like this can also help out others who have come across one of these pokemon, or who might be taking care of one. And who knows, we might even be able to contribute a little bit to the Professors who are currently researching these pokemon as well!
[And that is just a really great idea. They are all becoming scientists now. All of them.]Personally, I haven't met one of these new pokemon yet, but I thought I might help out by collecting all available information in one place where everybody can access it. I'll put a link up after this video ends, so everybody can find and read it. Of course I'll be trying to keep it updated with all the new information.
I suppose one thing that is going to come up immediately is that we have no idea what these pokemon species are called. I have to admit I am not really good coming up with names, so for now, I've simply marked each section Blue, Green and Red for each of the different pokemon. I wasn't sure if it would be helpful to choose some temporary names for them based on the sounds they make, and in any case, I don't think I'd be the right person to do that, so I will be asking your input on that too.
So anything you can share here would be really welcome. Even if you aren't taking care of one of these pokemon, I think just reporting a sighting can already help track how they are spreading and if they are heading to certain areas perhaps. If you've taken any pictures, those would be great to share too. We might be able to tell if they have any variations of differences between the two sexes. And, of course, everybody is welcome to contribute. We are all completely unfamiliar with these creatures, so regardless if you've been here for years or are still relatively new, I feel everybody's observations could end up being equally important.
I also think it'd be good to collect people's speculations about these new pokemon. Though obviously, it'll be important to keep any speculations separated from known facts. Still, people's theories could help us discover new things about these pokemon.
Oh, and one question I have already is whether anyone has tried exposing these pokemon to any time of evolutionary stone yet and if there has been any reaction from them. How about TM/HMs, and if so, which ones did you try?
Really, anything you might know will be a great help already.
[And with that, he'll get up again to turn off the gear, keeping it close to him so he can respond to any incoming information.
Also, as promised, moments after the video is finishing, a link pops up to document with all currently collected information.
ooc: Also, feel free (and, in fact, encouraged) to threadjack other people's comments in this post and branch off. Don't worry. Armin will be listening and recording. Everything.]
