Summary: A special kite-flying sendoff goes awry.

As night falls on the final day of an excellent beach prom adventure, the staff of Resort Gorgeous usher their guests out onto the beach for one last grand sight to top off the experience. Big, fluffy resort towels have been laid out for people and Pokemon alike to sit on, and locals are off to the sides, handling large and beautiful kites with incredible care. They come in all shapes and sizes, and each depicts a Pokemon you may have seen wandering the shores or swimming in the oceans during your time here. They're incredible works of art all on their own, and as the wind picks up, watching them lift off into the sky becomes an artistic experience in and of itself.

A hush falls over the gathered audience as the kites sail up, up, up into the sky. Small children begin to release lanterns that float up to join them, and the kites dance around them in practiced loops and twirls. In turn, they are illuminated from all angles, a play of shadow and color in the dark, starry night.

But as the show goes on, it starts to become apparent that starlight and lanterns... are not the only things lighting up the night sky.

POKEMON PROM

Time to get your party on! After a wave of Pidgey-delivered invitations swept across Johto and Kanto alike, the day has finally arrived!

Sevii is stunning this time of year, when the temperatures are merely warm instead of scorching like they are midsummer, and the April showers have all blown up north to douse the main peninsula for awhile. And to be quite frank, as Resort Gorgeous comes glimmering up on the horizon with palm trees swaying in the breeze and the faint, musical honks of Wingull drifting overhead, it's clear that it deserves its name.

Lady Selphy herself greets everyone departing the ferries, offering detailed maps of the resort and schedules boasting the many activities and services available. Meanwhile, a small army of smartly-dressed staff will happily direct everyone with luggage to get all set up in the tents along the beach.

As soon as that's taken care of?

Well, what's everybody waiting for?

Go forth and have yourself a tropical little vacation!

So with Prom coming up, I've had an idea!

[ It's ya boi Ash! He's chilling in a hotel room this afternoon (after having had a cry to Noctis about a Spearow that morning), with his Pichu An Toirneach settled on his lap. ]

What if I told you guys that I got two friends who've agreed to be mystery dates for an evening? Just you know, in case anyone's feeling a bit on their lonesome or wants to indulge my buds for a dinner. They'll pay their half of the check and all that! If a lot of people fancy it then maybe it could be like a date auction, you know? I'll send any money people put forward to a charity for Pokemon welfare or something. This is just a spur on the moment idea!

Oh! I should describe them! Well, they're a guy and a girl. The guy is a brunette with fluffy hair and dark eyes. He's quite the charmer! Bit boisterous but he knows his manners and he knows how to treat a girl right. [ He leaned forward and whispered ] Between me and all of you, he's a bit of a mama's boy and he's got a massive soft spot for his sister, so he wouldn't hear the end of it if he was rude to a girl! But like I said, he's a right sweetheart and just likes to make people feel special, ya know?

The girl is shy - like, really shy. 'I'm still kinda surprised I convinced her to do this' shy. But I think she's trying to build up her confidence so, please be nice to her, okay? She's lovely once she opens up and very friendly and kind. She loves going running so if you can, mention that to her and she'll brighten up right away! She's cute as a button too, with yellow hair.

So ur, if you're interested then give me a ring and we can arrange something maybe!

[ OOC: What Ash hasn't mentioned is that the dates in question are Coffee the Eevee and Shockmau5 the Pikachu respectively. [ oh jesus, it's Mari's face in the 'gear again. Good fuckin' morning. ]

Ciaaaaaaaaaaaaao~! It's your favorite Idol again!

SO! I was doing some experimenting because I've only been able to make eggs from Diamond and Riko. HOWEVER!! After a lotta work, I'm suddenly having a surplus.

We're all been talking about making a Breeders' Union to help each other out and to help out the newer trainers. So I'm offering my little Eggs-travaganza for anyone who is interested. My whooooooole backlog needs to go! Take a look!

[The video opens with a sniffle, a hand blocking the camera's view. Anyone watching will hear some soft chirping and a shaky inhale followed by an equally trembling exhale before the lens is uncovered.

Prompto sits slumped in a bench. His red-rimmed eyes and tear-stained cheeks make it clear he's been crying, and his disheveled hair indicates a long night of no sleep - and not for a good reason. He tries to smile, but it's wobbly and his eyes aren't lighting up.]

H-hey guys. [Even his voice is off, choked and tight.]

So, I know this is a shot in the dark. But I'm desperate. Yesterday one of my Pokemon was stolen by a member of Team Rocket. H-his name is - [No, calling him out personally could be dangerous. For Prompto, his team, and his stolen Pokemon.] - not important.

W-what's important is that it's Oleander that got stolen and he's ... he's special. To me. To my team. [He runs a hand through his hair, the other coming up to rub at his eyes because he can feel the tears forming again. Pryna burrows deeper into his lap and peers up at him, nuzzling his stomach and offering what comfort she can.]

We've been lookin' for the Rocket Headquarters all night and most of today. If that's even where Fush - the Rocket who stole him went. But if he's somewhere else, m-maybe one of you will see Olly. He's a blue Meowstic with a white stripe on his back. Uh, he's super shy an' he likes anything speckled an' his original trainer disappeared not too long ago so he's kinda sad right now too.

[Finally looking directly into the camera lens, he finishes his plea.] If you see him, please let me know? Maybe shoot me a text and just tell me where you saw him or somethin' cuz I don't want anyone running into trouble...

T-thanks -- [He leans forward and cuts the video off abruptly, the beginnings of a stifled sob the last sound transmitted.]

[The first oddity to Madoka was the sensation of waking up. She's constantly appearing where needed and hasn't slept since her wish, so waking up from sleep is already a red flag. The pink haired wanders out of the house in a daze, with Audino by her side. It's only as she stands in front of the route that she remembers she picked up what reminded her of a phone.

Welp... As long as she's dreaming...?]

Hello...? This is Madoka... Kaname? [Can she use that surname anymore?

Shaking her head, she continues.]

If this is a dream... and this must be a dream, right?

[ Today's network post is coming to you from the Lake of Rage, where Ash is clearly sat in a boat. He's angled the camera to just show himself but it's pretty obvious he's hiding the person next to him. It sounds like Noctis. ]

Guys guys! So, me and Noctis have gone fishing at the Lake of Rage. There's some pretty cool Pokemon out here, but this is my first time fishing so I ain't having much luck. I caught a really cute Skrelp but, I need you all to see what Noctis here fished up. Now if you're thinking 'Wait, Noctis, isn't that the handsome Magikarp guy who has a horde of Gyarados that gives him domain over the seas?' You're completely right. So I'll give ya all five seconds to guess what he caught.

[ Five seconds pass, with Ash grinning. ]

Okay, if you guessed Magikarp... You're right! But you're also wrong! [ He finally turned the camera to show Noctis, complete with fisher's cap, cuddling a shiny golden Magikarp. ]

He caught a shiny one! I didn't know you could find these kinda Pokemon in the wild! I mean, it figures Noct would be the one to find a shiny Magikarp and all-
Ass! [ Noctis shoved Ash with a smile, who just laughed. ]
I'm just saying! You're basically the King of Karps, with your numerous mighty Gyarados steeds and a whole battling team of em. And now, a literal goldfish! So yeah I dunno how rare it is - except for super rare - but just, behold this man, and his magnificent god-damn Magikarp!

Top of the afternoon to ya, lads and lasses!

[ It's Ash! He's putting on a thick Irish accent and he's in the middle of Mt. Mortar it seems, kicking back by a spring with his Pokemon. Crash the Rhyhorn is serving as his back rest and is enjoying a snooze, while Inigo Montoya the Sneasel is curled beside him, tapping at his guitar with interest. Ash has his guitar in his lap (the case is by his feet, so he's not daft enough to just lug a guitar around...or rather, he is but at least he's brought some protection for it. He talks normally onwards, so you have to put up with his regular English (only slightly Irish touched) accent. ]

Man, I nearly lost track of the days but it's St. Patrick's Day! Again! It's kinda crazy to think it's my second one here. Still get a little homesick though, ya know? I know it doesn't mean anything to most of the folks here, so let me explain it like this. Back home it's a holiday about a place called Ireland and it's culture, and that's where my family came from. So for us it's a family holiday where we get together and hang out together. Maybe sing some songs, tell old stories, eat traditional food, all that kind of thing. Since I can't be home and I'm ya know, in the middle of a mountain with some of my mons, I figured I'd just share a little ditty with all of ya.

[ He began to tap his foot on the ground, rousing his Rhyhorn. As he sang and played on his guitar, Crash began to stomp his feet to the beat, clearly getting into it and whinnying along with Ash's vocals. Inigo listened and got into it too, clapping his paws along to the song. ]

[It's hard to hear anything when the video comes on because thunderstorm. The rain's coming down pretty hard, the wind's causing the trees to bend this way and that and the sky is rumbling pretty much constantly as the storm rages. Lightning blasts across the sky more frequently than is probably normal and the reason is pretty obvious.

Standing on a small hill ahead of the cameraman is a group of four Electabuzz that seem to be having the time of their lives.

The video continues for a few seconds more before it cuts off and the user switches to text.]

Are they trying to summon something? Should I be worried?

[Look, he knows they aren't trying to call upon anything--hopefully--but it's really strange to see Pokemon grouped together like that.

[ The video opens to the image of something completely engulfing the screen. It shifts through all seven colors of the rainbow in about four cycles.

Does that feel funny to stare at? It might. Are you tingly? Do you have a headache? Maybe your saturation settings are up too high.

Again, the colors move before being pried away from the 'gear forcibly by Mari. Don't mind him, it's just a Big Ol' Starmie. Her Big Ol' Starmie. Spinel's all grown up and he has apparently developed an affinity for trying to hypnotize people through the screen with his colors.

Feeling lightheaded or pukey may have resulted in staring for too long. ]

Hey guys! Mari's getting ready to leave Celadon soon!! I saved up soooo much money working a ton of shifts at the Pokemon Center that I could get Spinel evolved into a Big Star! Haha~ Get it~?

So!! That brings me to this: While I was working at the Pokemon Center, I got to have a lot of free time to study my own Pokemon. I was scrolling through my 'dex, reading journals, and all sorts of stuff. It was pretty craaaaaaa~aaazy when I learned that Starmie and Staryu are not actually starfish! They're some kinda alien from outer space! They're always trying to contact something up there from the ocean floor with their gems.

It turns out that there are a lot of things we might gloss over when it comes to our own friends. If you dig a little deeper, you'll find that there is more to them than what you think!

Have you learned anything about your Pokemon that you hadn't thought of until after you had spent time with them or did some reading?

Ahhh~ Mari wants to be a Professor AND a Contest Coordinator someday! I never want to stop learning!! I could do it forever and eve--!

[ The feed suddenly begins to short out and Mari's voice glitches to nothing. After a five seconds of silence, the 'gear is filled with Spinel's gem again... Shifting and shifting through the colors. It abruptly cuts in some static, ending the transmission entirely.

If you tune in later at night-- say 2am --and happen to run across Mari's feed being active again, you will find the same shifting pattern of colors cycling and cycling nonstop for roughly an hour. A sound that isn't quite a voice thrums at the back of your brain or at the base of your spine, causing some real negative ASMR situations. You might want to turn it off or change the channel as quickly as possible. Are your Pokemon put off because of it? Is something FISHY going on?

ooc: A weird spooky goofball post from me! Have your character reply whenever they'd like and how ever they would like. If they spotted the GOOFINESS Spinel was up to overnight or their Pokemon had a problem, Mari is completely oblivious to her starter getting a hold of her 'gear and trying to scare everyone.

[ Oh god it's this guy again. Ash is kicking back in his chair, giving the camera a sheepish, yet relaxed look. Around him are several of his Pokemon; there's a Pumpkaboo in his lap and a Jigglypuff sat right beside him, with a Scyther stood by his chair with a Vivillon perched on the dull side of a his blade. A Cottonee is floating on some light breeze over the Jigglypuff, and a Dusclops is tending to a box full of Pokemon Eggs, sat safely on a table. ]

So! Valentines happened and all. I had a pretty good day, and it seems some of my Pokemon had a good Valentine's day too! So I've got some eggs for sale; Bladerunner and Étain are basically married, as you can tell- [ The Vivillon fluttered to the Scyther's shoulder, kissing his cheek. He turned his head a little to her, but clearly wasn't as open to public displays of affection. ] but the others I think are more friendship kids. But yeah there's these two, Psychopump and Jacob here- [ He put a hand on the Pumpkaboo in his lap and gestured to the Dusclops who was standing beside the eggs, making sure they were covered with blankets and secure, offering a wave. ] and Morrigan and David Bowie. [ At his name, the Jigglypuff drew himself up proudly and winked to the camera. The Cottonee on the other hand, floated over to Ash. Catching her eye, he nodded respectfully to her and she settled by his shoulder. ]

Oh, there's one more egg but the parents aren't here; Scuabtuinne and Ronan had one too! Scuabtuinne is my Lapras, she's amazing, and Ronan is my Brionne. He's a sweet lad! So if you're interested in any of em, let me know!

[The feed clicks on to what appears to be a single bedroom in a Pokemon Centre. There's a bit of a ruckus going on in the background - a Shinx, Litleo, Meowth, Glameow and Purrloin are all fighting over food, bedding, pretty much everything. A Solosis seems to be trying to keep the peace but failing miserably. Hermione is in the foreground, looking a little frazzled.]

I think Goldenrod may have a...well...feline problem, for want of a better word. Two I found on the outskirts of Goldenrod rummaging through my backpack because they were starving, and the other three were fighting each other over food from a garbage can near the centre. I couldn't just leave them like that, the poor things. They were all just so hungry and looked terrible.

*CRASH*

[Anyone watching the feed is probably seeing that the 'poor things' just knocked the trash can over, and the television is teetering ominously on its stand as Solosis tries to right it. Hermione whips her head around quickly.]

Meowth I told you not to fight with Glameow and Purrloin! And don't get me started on you two![She points a pair of fingers at the Shinx and Litleo, who just ignore her.]

[She's not a crazy cat lady...she's really not...they were just so darn cute though! How could she NOT help them?!?]

So, um... I've been stuck in my house for the last few days thanks to a pair of Drampa. I couldn't figure out why they wouldn't let me leave, but it turns out something was preventing them from leaving. Something had them so scared that they blocked both the front and the back door to the house and I... think they were trying to protect me from it, too? They weren't aggressive, but they seemed really insistent that I stay inside.

Anyway, I finally found out the cause of it and it took a few hours to get everything sort of, uh|

back to normal

_{[Attached is a picture of a slightly-roughed up Machoke holding an equally angry Jangmo-O under one arm, and a small pile of eggs slightly behind the pair, which is being watched over by a Charizard. The walls on the other hand... There may or may not be a hole or two in it.]}

I'd like to find homes for any Jangmo-O eggs before Nidhogg tries to beat up Apollo even worse than he has there. Or my other Pokemon for that matter. Thankfully I think there's only two, but uh... I might have to charge a little more for them. Nidhogg got in a fight with Apollo in the process of trying to calm him down and I'm still finding things broken around the house.

Some of my other Pokemon had eggs too, um... hang on.

[The video turns on to Armin look a bit peeved. Not exactly angry, but there is some frustration on his face there. Like someone just gathered up every sensible law of logic and took them away from him.

He seems to be on the beach (when is he not), the sound of waves and someone howling with laughter accompanying him.]

I’m sorry to bother anyone, but I have a question I was hoping someone could answer. [a small frown.] Perhaps a breeder would know…

[He turns the camera around to focus on a cute clutch of eggs in the sand. Nothing out of the ordinary there. Just some nice poke-eggs.]

I came home from work to discover these. I suppose it was somewhat inevitable with how many Pokemon we have running around, but—

[The camera moves again to focus on an Incineroar who looks very proud of himself. In fact, when Polo realises the camera is on him, he purrs with obvious delight, thrusting out his chest. Yes. Yes, look at him. He is the one who did it. He made these happen. He is the father and very proud of it.

The camera moves to the side to focus on another very proud Pokemon. Well, part of a very proud Pokemon. Armin is too close to his Wailord to really get a proper shot of her, so mostly what is on view is the front of her massive head. She’s pushed herself partway onto the sand, slapping her giant tail on the water, letting out a half sung Wail.]

Could anyone please explain how these two managed to have a clutch of eggs? I understand about egg groups, but I cannot see how Polo managed to, well—

[Bump uglies. Do the deed. Form the beast with two backs. Sex. Armin is talking poke-sex.]

I mean, even disregarding the size difference, Polo hates water. He won’t go into it. And Amber cannot really go on land. It just—
