[The video turns on to Armin hurrying to sit down again. It seems his gear is propped up on top of something, giving it a perfect view of a cosy and neat little campsite. There is a tent, a fire. A content Piloswine is snoozing away, and Armin is sitting propped up against him, using the mountain of fur as a backrest. He's sitting with his legs crossed, a few notebooks and pens nearby, a steaming mug of tea at the ready and his laptop on his lap.
And his eyes are on fire.
Not literally, of course. That would be rather unhealthy. Rather, his eyes are shining bright with a mixture of pure excitement, curiosity and intense happiness. It is the sort of look that makes it pretty hard not to share in his excitement.]
I think it is safe to assume that by now, you've all heard of the strange new pokemon that have been sighted. There is three, as far as I know, though if you've seen other ones, please let me know. The ones I am aware of are a blue chameleon-like pokemon with a fin on top of its head and a curled up tail; a green monkey-like pokemon with brown ears and a tail; and finally a white rabbit-like pokemon with some red markings.
For those of you that haven't experienced something like this before - it seems to happen here from time to time. I recall it happening once before, about two years back, but I've talked to some other people who confirmed that it happened at least one other time before that too. Essentially what happens is that new species of pokemon suddenly start appearing. It might just be one or two, but it could also be dozens! Sometimes the Pokedex won't register them at all, but at other times, the dex will suddenly be updated with a ton of new pokemon that weren't there before.
Nobody really seems to know why and how it happens, though I think it is fair to say that the chance of this being a natural occurrence is fairly slim. The plane crash that happened earlier this month seems to have something to do with the appearance of these new pokemon, though that is not something that has happened before. I'm afraid I wasn't able to visit the site of the crash personally, but if anyone has and has any more information, I'd gladly hear it.
In fact, that's why I am making this broadcast.
With so many unanswered questions about both these new pokemon and the crash, I thought it would be good to try and collect as much information as we can. Right now, we cannot depend on the Pokedex or books to help us figure out the mysteries of these new Pokemon. But if everybody contributes what they know, even if it is just a confirmed sighting, I think we might be able to gather enough information to start answering some things. And sharing our experiences like this can also help out others who have come across one of these pokemon, or who might be taking care of one. And who knows, we might even be able to contribute a little bit to the Professors who are currently researching these pokemon as well!
[And that is just a really great idea. They are all becoming scientists now. All of them.]
Personally, I haven't met one of these new pokemon yet, but I thought I might help out by collecting all available information in one place where everybody can access it. I'll put a link up after this video ends, so everybody can find and read it. Of course I'll be trying to keep it updated with all the new information.
I suppose one thing that is going to come up immediately is that we have no idea what these pokemon species are called. I have to admit I am not really good coming up with names, so for now, I've simply marked each section Blue, Green and Red for each of the different pokemon. I wasn't sure if it would be helpful to choose some temporary names for them based on the sounds they make, and in any case, I don't think I'd be the right person to do that, so I will be asking your input on that too.
So anything you can share here would be really welcome. Even if you aren't taking care of one of these pokemon, I think just reporting a sighting can already help track how they are spreading and if they are heading to certain areas perhaps. If you've taken any pictures, those would be great to share too. We might be able to tell if they have any variations of differences between the two sexes. And, of course, everybody is welcome to contribute. We are all completely unfamiliar with these creatures, so regardless if you've been here for years or are still relatively new, I feel everybody's observations could end up being equally important.
I also think it'd be good to collect people's speculations about these new pokemon. Though obviously, it'll be important to keep any speculations separated from known facts. Still, people's theories could help us discover new things about these pokemon.
Oh, and one question I have already is whether anyone has tried exposing these pokemon to any time of evolutionary stone yet and if there has been any reaction from them. How about TM/HMs, and if so, which ones did you try?
Really, anything you might know will be a great help already.
[And with that, he'll get up again to turn off the gear, keeping it close to him so he can respond to any incoming information.
Also, as promised, moments after the video is finishing, a link pops up to document with all currently collected information.
ooc: Also, feel free (and, in fact, encouraged) to threadjack other people's comments in this post and branch off. Don't worry. Armin will be listening and recording. Everything.]

I don't think I've ever seen you so excited, Armin!
Video;
Well, this sort of thing is incredible, isn't it? We are meeting totally unknown pokemon. There is so much to learn and discover about them. And we can all contribute to that.
Video;
[He turns his camera around to show his Furret, Maestra, gently playing with a Sobble and Grookie. They look a little wary, but they're opening up to Kazuki's motherly girl.]

[Hello from Violet Town jail, Armin, it's your jailbird buddy, Jean. He turns the camera slightly so that, instead of his face, where it started, it's showing a cowering little green ball, tucked under his arm. Armin will also catch a glimpse of a seething floor of Voltorbs, but pay no mind to that!]
video;
[He's leaning in, all excitement and energy, ready to note down everything Jean has to say about his new friend.]
What can you tell me about him? How did you find him? I know you must have encountered him in Violet, so I'll note that down, but any more details?
video;
[Kind of hard to tell when the (borrowed, un-Zappy-infected) communicator doesn't give any info on it.]
She just wandered into my cell. I thought the Voltorbs were chasing her and that they'd scared her, but she doesn't seem to mind them. She's scared of just about everything else, though.

[Lena snorts, the action jostling a very obvious lump under her striped sweater. It wiggles, making a pathetic sort of sobbing noise, before one familiar-looking blue eye peeks up from her collar.]
Oh yeah, I found one of those guys too.
video; threadjack
[ the freckled, brown-eyed teen asking her that question also has an arcanine in frame, who is being beleaguered by a sobble. it is currently trying to get her to fight it by latching onto her fluffy tail. ]

[Lena can't hide a snort; seriously, it's hilarious seeing something so small and kind of endearingly pathetic-looking trying to fight a giant dog like that...!]
He kinda just wants to hide all the time. I dunno if something happened during that plane crash or if he's just.... yanno. Like that.

[Ash, you shouldn't joke about a plane crash.]
...For a very loose definition of normal. I managed to get a look at the wreck of the plane, and I still couldn't tell you what happened to it. It's a miracle those unknown Pokémon managed to reach the shore, really.

I keep losing track of the guy, but he hasn't tried to run away or anything yet. My friend found one just like him too, but I dunno if they're like... siblings or anything.
video;
Can I ask where you found it? On what route and in what sort of environment, if you don't mind getting into the details.

[Hi Armin, it's the small squid child who's likely been loitering around Krieg for the past few weeks.]
I like th'blue one. It's a baby. How d'you make friends with 'em if they're always runnin'?
[Video]
[Sorry, Thida. This is science and it requires details. All of the details.]
If they keep running away, have you tried just sitting quietly somewhere, and seeing if they will come and approach you? It might help to bring something to offer to them too, like some berries or fruit.

I wish I had something new to tell you about them, but I haven't seen them up close yet myself! But I plan to change that as soon as possible!
I wonder if there are any old legends or stories about Pokemon like any of them...
Video
[Hey Rose. Good to see you looking as excited as he feels.]
I know there are a lot of old stories and legends, but I've never run across one sounds anything like these pokemon. Most of the common legends are about Lugia and Moltres and those sorts of pokemon.

I believe Avocado is a grass type or at least partial. It's also made a noise in response to one of the other new Pokémon that sounded like Groo-key but that was the only time it really made noise.
[He's still not really sure on the gender.
The little monkey Pokémon peers curiously at the 'gear, looking...cautious but not ready to bolt which is better than how it was before. It does startle as a vine appears from off-screen wrapped around a berry, a happy "Ivy-ivysaur!" announcing Deku's arrival as he offers a treat to his new friend.]
So far it's been content to just hide in my hood or my backpack for the time being unless one of the other new Pokémon is around or on screen.
[Video]
[Armin nods slightly at the rest of his words.]
That seems to be a common thought. Several people said the species you have is probably a Grass type. Yuuko mentioned that she saw flames when the rabbit-like one ran, so it might be at least partially a Fire type. And the blue lizard-like one seems to be a water type, at least in part.
