[It's been a while since JW has appeared on the network. Today he is sitting at a breakfast table in the lobby of the Violet Hotel. He's not eating anything but there is a glass of orange juice at his elbow. Psyduck's paws can be seen poking into the corner of the frame.]

[He pauses because Psyduck has reached out with her little downy forepaw and put it on his arm. It's his reflex to jerk away from her but she leans over the table, nearly laying flat on her tummy to keep her paw there. He opens his mouth to scold her but he can't bring himself to say abusive things to his Pokemon right in front of Rose. And maybe because in the pit of his stomach he knows he's wrong. JW slowly deflates.]
No...no, Rose, I'm sorry. I ought not have snapped at you.

It does seem hard to be human for a whole lifetime. So much changing and growing and always more things to learn and do...
But I think there's something amazing about all of that. Humans...we can be whatever we want to be. We can invent and name and be ourselves.

[JW brings a thumb and forefinger up to press into the soft spots under his eyes.]
I just. Don't like Pokemon that much and it's all anyone in this world talks about. I never wanted to train Pokemon and make them fight each other or whatever the hell they're made to do. I just want to have as few problems as possible until the next wormhole dumps me somewhere else.
[Psyduck pats JW's arm with a serious look on her face. She's grateful for Rose being there to help her out.]

Well that's alright. You don't have to catch more Pokemon or battle them if you don't want to. I only battle when someone challenges me, because I have Pokemon that like to. And I don't catch Pokemon, but I do make friends with so many of them.

Rose, if I don't do this trainer crap I'll get killed out there! You know what's weird? I haven't seen a single gun since I showed up. It's--so frustrating! If I wanna just woodcarve and cook, I have to stay put because if I walk up the wrong mountain a giant sheep is going to eat my skin off!
[He drags his fingers through his hair with a thousand-yard stare, very clearly imagining that exact scenario.]
